Horse Riding at Tswalu

Riding become extremely popular with Tswalu and stalls were very busy this festive season, with a beautiful giraffe observation on Christmas morning ride, followed by observation Buffalo a few days later. Guests loved the excitement of those on horseback, a part of their natural environment.

Tswalu stables now have 15 horses in size, color and race. The races are Shire, Arab X, X Appaloosa, Sattler plated Boer X, X Friesian, Quarter Horse X and Pinto. We also have a number of retired racehorses from the Oppenheimer stud. The sizes range from 146cm (14 3H) to 172cm (17 1H).

Most horses are suitable for all types of riders, but we have a few that need more experienced riders. In December we welcomed Cindy Tswalu that will support Almeri Stable as Assistant Manager. Cindy has her Equine Science in South Africa and has worked with the Arab and thoroughbred horses worked. She also worked at Saldannah Military Equestrian Centre, where she ran a stable manager and eco-tours on the beach. She looks forward to learning about the Kalahari and a Field Guide.
