The term equestrian may sound alien for those who do not ride. This is a Latin term referring to a member of the Order. This is one of the highest order in ancient Rome. Riding become extremely popular with Tswalu and stalls were very busy this festive season, with a beautiful giraffe observation on Christmas morning ride, followed by observation Buffalo a few days later. Guests loved the excitement of those on horseback, a part of their natural environment.
Tswalu stables now have 15 horses in size, color and race. The races are Shire, Arab X, X Appaloosa, Sattler plated Boer X, X Friesian, Quarter Horse X and Pinto. We also have a number of retired racehorses from the Oppenheimer stud. The sizes range from 146cm (14 3H) to 172cm (17 1H).
Most horses are suitable for all types of riders, but we have a few that need more experienced riders. In December we welcomed Cindy Tswalu that will support Almeri Stable as Assistant Manager. Cindy has her Equine Science in South Africa and has worked with the Arab and thoroughbred horses worked. She also worked at Saldannah Military Equestrian Centre, where she ran a stable manager and eco-tours on the beach. She looks forward to learning about the Kalahari and a Field Guide.

Many of us spend a lot of time to convince us that our dreams will never come true. We will never be the master of the half-pass or a clear round or gallop bravely jumped on a hack.

Instead of thinking negatively, think about what you want and do what you will. Plan, write your goals and steps taken to achieve these goals. Start with something simple. If you have a bad fall, it may take until you feel safe enough to be back on a horse. And so it should be, caution is the body’s way to protect themselves. But what if you love horses and horse riding love, and you yearn to be back in the saddle, but trust your bike to a rock-bottom low?
1st Maintaining physical fitness, strength and flexibility
Start with what you have. to feel fit. Lose that excess weight accumulated while you were imposed. Slowly build up your strength again and gradually regain your suppleness with stretches and yoga. If a serious injury, working with a professional like a physiotherapist. You will automatically be more confident when you are strong and fit.
2nd Make a healthy diet. After an injury, you need physical strength to rebuild. Enough to eat, but not too much. Make sure all the vitamins the body needs, while under these physical and mental stress.
